He on the other hand is not thrilled because the blow drying alone takes at least an hour and a half.

The C.Booth products are very nice and would make a wonderful gift. Just add a little basket or tie them together with some cellophane and ribbon and you're good to go.

A few months back I saw a little write up on a blog about being a BzzAgent. The concept/idea behind BzzAgent is that the marketing company receives a bunch of samples that they send out to members for free and in return the members will go out and share the samples with all their friends, creating a “buzz” (hopefully positive from the company's perspective) about the product. I signed up and hadn't really heard much from the site for a while (and honestly forgot I signed up). This morning I got an e-mail inviting me to participate in the Sebastian Professional Volupt System BzzCampaign. I filled out a short survey and then received the following e-mail:

Fourth of July Finds at Rite Aid

Rite Aid is having an amazing sale this week. There were so many SCRs and Ups that I didn't even know where to begin. Lately I've been trying to only purchase things I know I'll have a use for (or can donate) as I'm up to my eyeballs in Everlast vitamins and can't seem to find anyone that wants them. I was really worried the contact solution might be gone by the time I got there, but amazingly there were bottles and bottles everywhere. I'm glad that this time they stocked up on the SCR items, because usually by the time I get there there's nothing left. This could be due to the fact I was shopping at 9:30pm on the fourth of july (weird I know).

Frustrating things that happened during the trip: the cashier insisted that we were buying the wrong blink and made us buy the blink for contacts, which I'm sure won't produce the $5.00 SCR, and the $2.00 up rewards that we should have received on both toothpastes didn't print. There was no manager on site, so they couldn't do anything and told us we could come back to fix the problem. I'm not sure I'll bother, as it was still a good trip.

Coupon Myths..."Buy You Can't Buy Organic/All Natural With Coupons"

So many times I'll be explaining coupons to someone and they'll end up telling me that they don't bother clipping coupons because, "We don't eat processed food", or "We only get organic". I think most people would be surprised to find that there are coupons for many different kinds of food (Organic, Meat, Dairy, Vegetables), not just "Cheap processed crap". A few weeks ago I was able to snag a Mambo Sprouts Coupon booklet at the customer service desk at my local shoprite.

Inside the book were coupons for:

The photo is my most recent Shoprite trip. The all natural chicken sausages were $0.49 a package, the chicken was an organic whole roaster I got 50% off, just $7.99! The Honest Teas were free, the Gourmet D'Artanon Sausage was $3.00 (half off), the hamburger patties were $3.00 (half off). The turkey burgers were $0.49 a package (these aren't organic, but a great price). Cherries, $1.99 a pound. Olivia's Organic Salad $2.99. Ask you local meat manager when the meat gets clearanced. Our A&P always has 50% off meat Sunday afternoon. We stock up on good quality organic meats for a fraction of the retail cost.

Plastic Storage Love

Plastic storage is an addiction to me. I joke with E that when we go to target he should keep me away from the storage/organization section of the store because I will want to buy everything. It's an affinity I can't really explain, except for I like to keep things organized. One of my very favorite movies as a child was Mary Poppins and not so coincidentally, in both Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music Julie Andrews was a lovable a neat freak! "A place for everything and everything in it's place".

Anyway, enough background story. I was walking the growl box today when I happened upon a sign that said, "recycle or free". I did a double take then immediately started scooping up as much plastic storage as I could hold while walking the dog. Luckily it was in my next door neighbor's "yard" (cement area)so I made a second trip. I recently bought a bunch of shoe box size containers (and now wish I hadn't), but holy cow I'm more then thrilled at this find. If I wasn't headed to work I'd wash all of them now so I could start organizing my stash of drug store purchases right away. In total there are about 40 different size boxes and baskets and organizers.

Most of the shoe box size containers still have the Bed Bath and Beyond sticker $1.99!! SCORE

Disclaimer: We went to different stores so we wouldn't wipe out any one store's stock. We do actually use this shampoo/conditioner and now will be fully stocked for the rest of the year. I have Rubbermaid containers (a little larger then shoe box size) that I put all of my alike products in...one for shampoo, one for toothpaste etc. To keep myself from going overboard and buying quantities too large for us to use, I give away and donate any products that can't fit in the containers. This week several toothbrushes, bodywashes and shampoos made their way to our local men's shelter.

Side note: Word on the street is that Rite Aid will now be coding all of it's $5.00 off $20.00 coupons and tying them to the new wellness card. I'm going to check with my local store this week as I had previously asked them about the coupon and they said there was no limit to the number I could use. I shop for my grandma, so it looks like I might need to sign her up for a separate card and videos account and watch the videos twice, bummer, but you know what they say about deals that are too good to be true!

No biggie, I'm happy to change my title/blog address. Corporate Calling...I'm Bringing Coupons Back!

So I took the day off Friday to for a little R&R. During the day I made a "quick" trip to Rite Aid to pick up some of last weeks deals. Everything was going smoothly as planned until...the cashier looked at my two $10.00 Everlast coupons and told me, "you can only use one".

Now I frequently need to "educate" cashiers about their own corporate coupon policies, but this particular cashier wouldn't not hear it (or see it, as I bring my own copy of the policy for exactly this reason). The cashier called for the manager who also told me (even after seeing the policy)that her district manager said they were "losing too much money" so they are "cutting back on coupon use". She then told me that "they"(district manager) don't "interpret" the policy to mean that customers can use two coupons on a bogo sale.

I stayed calm while the manager went to the back to call her district manager. I explained "in a calm and appropriate manner" that it doesn't really matter what the district manager says, as I have a copy of Corporate's policy, but she was not able to hear this. While she called, I called corporate from my cell phone. Once I got the CSR I told her the situation and handed my phone to the cashier who then handed the phone to the manager.

They were gone for about 5 minutes, but when they came back the manager apologized (after both the cashier and manager repeatedly acted like I was trying to leave the building with a flat screen TV in my pants). The cashier even said to me, "You'd be getting 5 items for $0.76". I responded, "Exactly, that's why I use coupons". She then asked me if I worked for corporate, I didn't say anything, just smiled.

Long story short the manager told me that I was right and she was sorry for the "confusion". I concurred and responded, "I'm glad we're all on the same page".

I don't like to argue, but when I'm right I will be ~~aggressive~~ assertive until I make my point. I left the store with everything in the photo for just $3.20 (two transactions). Plus I'll get back a $10.00 scr on the sunglasses and a $3.00 scr on the secret for a moneymaker of $6.80! The moral of this story is, be assertive, if you know you're right, don't let cashier bully you into feeling like you're doing something wrong. The whole ride home poor E had to listen to me singing my best rendition of "I'm bringing coupons back..." Yeah I Lame, I know.

I Heart Hood!

Being a New England girl, I've always loved Hood dairy products. Growing up we had a Collie named Morgan who loved Hoodsie cups (for those of you who aren't familiar they are little cups with half vanilla and half chocolate icecream, not swirled, literally half of the cup is chocolate and half vanilla. They touch but are not mixed). To eat one you must unwrap the wooden "spoon" and peel back the paper "lid". Summer just isn't summer without at least one Hoodsie cup.

Recently, I "Liked" Hood dairy on facebook and signed up for a free milk coupon. Yesterday I received a letter from Hood stating that my state doesn't allow free coupons. Inside the letter was a coupon for a chocolate milkshake (apparently milkshake isn't milk?) and a check for $5.00!! You read that right, Hood sent me a check for $5.00! I certainly would have been pleased with the milkshake coupon alone, but the check was above and beyond my expectations.

Just another reason to love Hood Dairy!

Took a little break from posting (not shopping), because I've been so busy with work. Isn't it horrible when your job takes away time from your hobby? But I've still been managing to get a few great deals. Last week I was able to snag the Olay products at Rite Aid for a money maker and today I made trips to ShopRite, CVS, and Rite Aid.

Yesterday I bought some Schick Hydro coupons on e-bay (hoping they'll arrive by Saturday so I can do some Target Deals).

This week the hydro is on sale at ShopRite for just $4.99! So I'm planning on doing a price match at Target.

Shop Rite ConAgra Catalina Deal

Cindy over at LivingRichWithCoupons.com alerted her readers to a wonderful unadvertised catalina deal at ShopRite this week.

The advertised deal is: Buy 10 selected ConAgra products get a $3.00 catalina. The unadvertised deal is that a $5.00 on your next shopping order (5/23-5/29) also prints.

I was lucky to have a training during the day today, so I worked 9-5 and headed over to ShopRite after work. I bought everything in the photo (two transactions of ten items a piece, plus two free chocolate milks) for $16.32. Plus I got back $13.00 in Catalinas making my total just $3.32! I plan to go back tomorrow or Saturday to do several more transactions like this:

Buy 10 products at $1.00 a piece= $10.00
Minus one $3.00 catalina= $7.00
Get back $8.00 in catalinas (one, $3.00 and one, $5.00) $1.00 moneymaker per transaction!

My transactions today were a little higher because the popcorn was $1.59, not $1.00. If I do three more transactions my OOP will be $37.32 and I'll have $28.00 in Cats to use on future grocery transactions making my total just $9.32 for 50 grocery items that retail for about $65.00! And what's even better is I just got a postcard in the mail stating that my local post office/letter carrier is participating in the national food drive this Saturday, so I won't even have to drive anywhere to drop everything off!

Here's why...The cashiers are always so friendly and pleasant and excited when I get a good deal. Unlike some of the cashiers at other stores (who will remain nameless), who sigh and huff and puff when I present a stack of coupons, pet smart's cashiers are always kind and considerate and never raise a fuss when I give them coupons. I also love that the Pet Smart closest to me gives overage on coupons. I purchased 25, $3.00 off any size pro plan coupons specifically to use for the following transaction:

1 15 pound bag of Blue Buffalo dog food $27.99 (yes, I'm well aware that my dog eats better than children in many developing countries)
11 pouches of pro plan dog food at $0.99 a piece (all of this will be donated to our local humane society)

Today I ran to ShopRite after stopping by Rite Aid and PetCo/Petsmart. I was pretty pleased with myself when I picked up everything in the photo for just $5.97!

What's even better is I got a Catalina for $3.00 off any beef or chicken purchase for purchasing 6 old El Paso products (This cat is National I believe, check your local store!). The taco shells and seasoning were all on sale (I believe $1.40 for the shells and $0.67 for the seasoning) and I used the $.60 off two products (which doubled to $1.20!).

Pet Smart Savings!

The regular Petsmart we go to didn't have the milkbone chews, so we tried another one nearby and sure enough...

6 bags of chews at $1.99 minus 11.00 in coupons (I only had 5, $2.00 coupons and 1, $1.00 coupon). Pet smart does give overage, at least the ones by me do, so I ended up paying just $1.78 ($0.84 of which was tax) for 6 large bags of chews! They regularly retail for $5.99!

My "regular" store had Pro Plan trial size pouches of food for just $0.99 so I picked up two pouches to add to my pet food donation pile and used 2, $3.00 coupons to score 3 cans of Organix canned food our our poochie pooh (regularly $2.49 a can) and the two pouches of dry food for just $0.90! I swear our pets eat better than we do, but they are worth it.

Update--I went back to Babies R Us to pick up some more BabyGanics. Please note that the manager does need to enter his/her "code" to make the transaction work. For some reason the registers let the cashier take off the dishwasher detergent, but would not let her take off the full price of the laundry detergent without the managers code (I'm wondering if there's a price limit for the cashier to safe guard the company, so the cashiers don't have the ability to put through high value coupons without a manager's approval? (the kit's were $19.99, and laundry detergent $14.99).

The manager (different one then last time) did question me and I did have to "prove my case" about why I should be allowed to use the coupon with the sale, but once I explained it (and told him that the dishwasher soap when through without any problem) he agreed and had the asst. manager enter her code. If you have the coupons, I'd say it's worth a try, the worst thing that can happen is they say no. I'd give corporate a call if your manager isn't agreeable.

Believe me you will be glad you did. First step, go to your local WalMart to see if you can find hang tags on BabyGanics products. The hang tags I had were bogo. Conveniently, Babies R Us is having a BOGO sale on BabyGanics products. Also don't forget to bring your 7th generation coupons for the bogo 1/2 off sale. If you're a regular organic shopper you know that most of these cleaners run $4-7 bucks a pop. My Babies R Us had them all on clearance for $1.99!!

And, thanks to another blogger I recently learned that you can take your empty bag off starbucks coffee into any starbucks for a free Tall coffee, who knew? 1 $25.00 check from my credit card company. I think people who tell you never to use your credit card are nuts. I think of my credit cards as cash. I use them to buy what I need and what I would have bought with cash. Then I pay them off in full at the end of the month. I get rewards on one card and cash back on another. It’s like an interest free 30 day loan that makes me money. If you're an overspender I understand why you'd want to use cash, but most couponers are pretty disciplined, so why not get paid to shop with you credit card?

Here's proof that you can go to the mall and "shop" and not spend anything. Sunday E and I headed to the local mall to pick up a free pair of cotton undies and a free piece of Godiva Chocolate.

The Godiva is for being part of the Godiva Rewards club (just scan your card, similar to a cvs/grocery card) and pick a free piece from the case each month!

The undies were part of a VS mailing. I do have a VS credit card from years ago that I no longer use, but I'm pretty sure this mailing was because I'm a member of their "Pink club". When I think about it now, I could shoot myself in the foot for all the expensive underwear I use to buy. $10 bucks a pair, no more! I'll stick to my cotton freebies!

Last week I got a whole organic chicken for $7.00! This week I got a pound and a half of individually packaged chicken breast for $4.00, a huge Focaccia bread with roasted veggies for $2.00, a package of fried chicken for E's lunch $2.00 and a 12 pack of jumbo glazed donuts for $1.50.

The cashier didn't even have to put in the price, some how the coupon just automatically took off $7.00. Sure it's only a little difference, but it's enough difference that I'll go back later in the week to grab another game to put aside for Christmas toy donations.

Ok this post is a little late (I bought this stuff Sunday morning), but I believe the coupons I used are good through tomorrow. Babies R Us is quickly becoming one of my favorite coupon stores, here's why:

6 method hand soap on clearance for $0.98 a piece
3 Clean and Clear Blackhead scrubs on clearance for $1.98 a piece

Used the printable babies r us coupons for 25% off clearanced cleaning products and 25% off adult personal care products to make the soaps just $0.73 a piece (these retail for $3.98!) and the scrubs just $1.48 a piece.

but it gets better...I used 3, $2.00 off any clean and clear product printables to make my total just $3.65! (yes I got overage towards the soaps, sweet!) I paid with my Babies R Us $5.00 gift card for a total of Zero out of pocket.

It's hard to believe that a year ago, yesterday we were just beginning to know Brooklyn AKA BB and Mr. B. He was found wandering the streets when NYC Animal Care and Control (a nightmare of an organization) picked him up. He made his way to Sean Casey Animal Rescue (because he wouldn't have been adoptable at AC&C because of his medical issues). He came to us very underweight, with kennel cough, an ulcer in one eye and a "Cherry Eye". He had surgery on the eye several weeks after we got him, and with time and patience he's grown into a growly, but loveable pooch. Here's his before and after (click to get a bigger photo)

Holy Free Laundry Detergent, Batman!

So I headed over to Babies R Us to see if I could score any deals with the Method Organic laundry detergent (no luck). Some folks were lucky enough to print the $5.00 off coupon before it turned into a $2.00 coupon...I was not one of them

So I looked at all the detergent and saw nothing. Then I turned the corner to the end cap and low and behold, hidden among a bunch of preggie pops and method hand soap... Arm and Hammer Essentials dye free, perfume free laundry detergent marked $2.98!!!

I grabbed two bottles (the only two on the shelf) and raced to the price scanner, just to be sure. Sure enough, $2.98 per bottle, or Absolutely FREE, with the $3.00 off any brand laundry detergent coupon from the Babies R Us flyer (coupon expired today, but there was one in last week's flyer, and hopefully next week's too)

I gave the coupon to the cashier, who remarked on what a good deal it was, just $0.42 (all tax) for 52 loads worth of laundry soap. First free terra chips and now free laundry detergent. Babies R Us is quickly becoming one of my favorite coupon hot spots!

So I headed to Target this weekend to do the Olay body wash/Venus razor deal. I planned to buy 3 Venus razors and 1 fusion razor then use 3, buy a venus get an olay body wash coupons, plus 3, $2.00 off a venus and 1, $4.00 off fusion razor. In theory I would have gotten 3, $5.00 Target gift cards and then would have submitted for the $15.00 olay rebate.

But there were no fusion razors (well there was one that was $4.99, but the scanner did not recognize it as Target merchandise, weird!). So I bought everything as planned thinking maybe I could convince the cashier to give me the gift card since all of the $6.99 fusions were gone. Umm...no. But he did push through the $2.00 off each of the venus razors. I bought the "wrong" body washes that didn't trigger the $5.00 gift card (always, always scan before you buy, I'm not sure what I was thinking). So I ended up only getting one $5.00 target giftcard. I took back the body wash the next day and got the correct washes to trigger the card.

Long Story short, I paid $3.85 for everything in the photo PLUS got a $5.00 Target gift cards. I'll submit for the Olay rebate making this deal a $16.15 Money Maker!

Please note that my store said the flyer was incorrectly published and corporate should have published the ad to say $2.00 off two bags not 2 bags for $2.00. But the manager was really sweet and adjusted the price without any problems. Bring a copy of the flyer (you can print one if you don't have a hard copy from the mail), just in case.

Since I didn't make it to CVS/Rite Aid until today (sat) this week's sales are over I'm just going to post my OOP, not all the coupons used.

Paid $0.45 cents! (paid with $12 ECBS and my subtotal was negative! Score)
Got back $4.00 ECB on the fusion and $1.00 ECB on the deodorant Plus I'll submit the MIR on the Schick quattro to get back the $8.99 I paid.

Next transaction was:

$0.00 out of Pocket (yes...FREE). The cashier adjusted my ECB down and let me use it to pay for tax! Big time Score. I think this happened because the cashier totaled everything and then I presented my ECBS. Typically I hand over coupons and then ECBS right after. I think from now on I'll try waiting and keep the ECBS in my wallet to use like cash.

No smelly men here! Lately it feels like all the deals have been for men's care products. But I'm certainly not complaining. I'm happy to stock up on razors, bodywash and deodorant to pass on to friends, family and our local homeless shelter.

These bad boys were $0.99 a piece, I used 4, $2.00 off 2 Right Guard coupons from coupons.com to score them for FREE! (well actually I had to pay tax, but I did get $.02 overage for each set of two)

This is the second time in 2 months that I've snagged a free pair of pants. This time they are Dockers for E.

In all honesty I had forgotten about the chance to win a pair until I was looking through some of my regular blog reads. About 3 minutes before the "men with no pants" ad came on I remembered about the promotion and entered all of my info (so when the ad aired I could hit send). Well, it worked like a charm and I got an e-mail yesterday letting me know I was a winner! SCORE!

I entered the promo code on the website and didn't even have to enter credit card info. Free shipping and free pants, I'm loving all these pants deals.

Weekend Rite Aid Trips

All together I spent $101.56 (yes that's a lot and that's AFTER coupons, so the value of the items pre-sale and coupon price was really high) but wait... here's what I'll get back

$20.00 on the Alli ($10 SCR times 2)
$23.97 on the gel tears ($7.99 times 3)
$6.00 on the colgate ($2.00 times 3)
$10.00 on the KY intense ($5.00 times 2)-One KY and a pack of gum is missing, want to know why? See my last post.

Total $59.97 back in Single Check Rebates plus I earned 2, $25 Rite Aid gift cards from the Healthy Heart promotion (alli $49.99 plus a soy joy bar at $1.00 to put me over the $50.00 I needed to spend to get the $25 card).

So if you subtract the two gift cards (I don't since they are store specific) it's like I spent $9.97 for everything above.

But wait... (I feel like an infomercial now), I plan to auction off the alli and the KY and anticipate I'll make around $30.00 each for the allis ($60.00 total) and $15.00 each for the KYs ($30.00) for a total moneymaker (fingers crossed) of approximately $30.00 and 2, $25 gift cards!

Reasons You Should Check your Reciepts and Products

before leaving the store...

1. You won't get charged for two frozen pizzas when you in fact purchased one.
2. You won't return home from Rite Aid to take photos of the KY intense gel that you planned to auction on e-bay to find that the package was in fact opened, and the product is missing.

Ugg...I noticed the pizza right away, and went back to the customer service desk (strangely she asked me to bring out the pizza...umm your cashier charged me for two but gave me one, what am I suppose to show you, the pizza you never gave me??)

But in all honesty never thought to check the KY box to make sure the gel was actually in the packaging. When I got home I noticed the box was a little bent on the bottom. Upon closer inspection, the seal was broken and the product was missing. Note to self, stop going to the Sketchy Rite Aid, where people steal things. Perhaps those folks need a lesson on coupons so they can legally "steal" goods and keep their dirty little mitts off my coupon deals.

Hopefully when I return to Rite Aid they will be understanding, I would imagine they know the demographics of people that shop at that location and won't think I'm trying to scam them, but lately Rite Aid has really hassled me with coupons (insisting that value video coupons are manufacturers coupons and not letting me stack without a fight). Cross your fingers for me

Update: The empty box was returned tonight and I actually received the product I paid for without any problems.

And as a Reminder here's what I set as goals for the Month:
$150 for Groceries ($37.50 a week for the two of us)

I just got an e-mail from Qdoba about their new about their new MASH Craft 2 Game. The game is really easy (and kind of fun to play). Remember the game MASH, from when you were in grade school? Well this is the electronic version. The first time I played I won a free Craft 2 meal (with the purchase of any regular drink). I'm pretty excited because we go to Qdoba a lot (I actually just finished half a burrito from Monday night for lunch).

This week was a rather slow CVS week for me. I had a $10ECB that expires today, so I ran out to get 6, yes 6 bags of Tostitos tortilla chips. We go through them pretty quick (especially when I make chili or chicken salsa soup), so these bags probably won't last us as long as they "should".

Who Said Nothing in Life is Free?

Many of you will remember a few months ago when Lee was running their facebook promotion to win a pair of jeans? Well, there was an unusually high number of people trying to sign up and Lee had some problems monitoring the contest, and as a result they ended up giving everyone that signed up (before a certain date, which I can't remember) a free pair. I received mine from the fedex man yesterday :)

The fit is a little different then I would normally buy, but for a free pair of jeans, I'm certainly not complaining.

I also received my prizes from the Huggies Enjoy the Ride program (I'm not including photos since I plan to give them as gifts to my nephews and I don't want my sisters to see).

If you aren't signed up already, you really should. I entered codes from several blogs (goggle huggies rewards and a bunch should pop up). Deel Seeking mom has some here. and had enough points to win a prize the same day. It takes a few minutes to copy and paste the codes, but I think it's worth it.

Note to self, always scan every item you buy before you check out. My totals were off on the second transaction and I ended up having to buy the cvs fruit because the aspirin was on sale (unmarked, because the actual aspirin I wanted to buy wasn't in stock). If I had known I would have bought something more useful then chocolate covered fruit, but I had to grab whatever was closest to not hold up the line, Oh well, E will be happy.
